Nine Wins For NSU T&F In Bismarck

Bismarck, ND (NSUWolves.com) – In their first open meet of the season, the Northern State University track and field teams tallied nine event victories from the UMary Winter Classic. In addition, the NSU men tallied one school record and three provisional marks from the meet. The men won the meet with 180 points, while the women took third with 126 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • Chris Weber opened the meet breaking his own school record in the 60m with a race winning time of 6.78; the time ranks him 26th in NCAA Division II with the provisional mark
  • Julian Scott added a third place finish in the 60m with a time of 6.99
  • Joel Matehs, Luke Campbell, and Talan Lunders took first, third, and fifth in the 60m hurdles with times of 8.12, 8.72, and 8.95
  • Matehs tallied his first provisional mark of the season, ranking 32nd in the 60m hurdles, while Campbell notching a personal best
  • In the 200m, Seth Martens took fifth with a time of 22.55
  • Martens followed up his 200m performance with a second place finish in the 400m, notching a time of 50.07, followed by Drew Salfrank and Geoffrey Mannino in third and fifth with times of 50.39 and 52.17
  • Dylan Schimke rounded out the top-5 o f the 600m, crossing the finish line in 1:25.07
  • Northern swept the top-5 placings of the 1000m led by Jonathan Burkhalter with a winning time of 2:37.15
  • Jacob Angerhofer, Lincoln Woodring, David VanVeen, and Bailen Hayford took second through fifth with times of 2:37.29, 2:39.31, 2:46.54, and 2:50.37
  • Burkhalter added his second race win in the mile with a personal best time of 4:24.48, while Angerhofer and VanVeen took fourth and fifth with times of 4:33.20 and 4:34.91
  • Jeffrey Boschee won the high jump with a 1.92m mark, followed by Carter Moller in fourth jumping 1.87m
  • Treyson Schulz rounded out the top-5 of the long jump with a 6.79m mark and went on to win the triple jump with a 12.99m mark
  • Eli Radtke tallied his third straight win in the pole vault, jumping 4.80m, followed by Sam Tremelling and Isaac Ligon in fourth and fifth with marks of 4.35m
  • Ethan Barnett opened the throwing events with a fifth place finish in the shot put, tossing 15.02m
  • The 4x400m relay team of Matehs, Damon Roggenbuck, Mannino, and Carter Dingman took second with a time of 3:27.88
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • Renea Taylor took second in the 60m, crossing the finish line in 7.74, and third in the 200m with a time of 25.90
  • Morgan Sheldon took fifth in the 60m hurdles with a season best time of 9.29
  • Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir and Emma Hunt placed second and third in the 400m with times of 1:01.24 and 1:03.45
  • Summer Carlson ran a new personal best in the 600m with a third place finish and time of 1:37.99
  • Emaleigh Olesiak and Payton Kemnitz took first and second in the 1000m run with times of 3:14.79 and 3:17.84, followed by Jolie Dugan in fourth with a time of 3:25.56
  • Olesiak added a second place finish in the mile, crossing the finish line in 5:28.12
  • Tayla Dobrenski tallied a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 1.63m
  • Bekah Walz and Gitte Bellemans took second and third in the pole vault, clearing 3.40m, while Makenna Glanzer placed fifth with a 2.95m vault
  • Kamryn Schwartz rounded out the top-5 of the triple jump with a 10.45m mark
  • The 4x400m team of Osk Jonsdottir, Anna Skachenko, Alli Jackson, and Carlson won the race with a season best time of 4:07.57

Northern heads to Brookings next Friday and Saturday for the SDSU D2 Open. Competition kicks off at 3 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
