Noem asking for national assistance in checkpoint dispute

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The stand off continues between the State of South Dakota and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe over check points on highways through the reservation.

Governor Kristi Noem says continued talks have changed nothing.

Noem says she has turned to state and federal authorities for help.

Noem says they have posted related documents that she says prohibits the check points.

Noem says she continues to talk to tribal officials about the check points.
