Noem continues to push to extend deadline for spending pandemic aid

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota got about $1.2 billion in pandemic related aid from Congress and is having a hard time spending it all.

Governor Kristi Noem says she continues to push to extend the end of the year deadline.

Noem says the costs of the pandemic will continue well into next year.

The legislature set aside about $400 million for grants to businesses and health care providers. Noem says those dollars have also not been used up.

State officials said that many of the applicants have not filed their follow up information to get the grants.
