Noem discourages people from attending races this weekend

PIERRE, S.D. (KWAT) — Governor Kristi Noem opened her Tuesday press briefing on COVID-19 by talking about an economic development assistance program that’s providing small business loans around the state.

The governor was asked what message she has for race fans who plan on attending Saturday night races at Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, South Dakota, where all 700 available tickets have been sold.

Noem was asked about the pushback she’s getting from some South Dakotans who are getting impatient.

South Dakota had recorded 1,755 COVID-19 infections as of Tuesday, with eight deaths.
