Noem says SD part of ‘slow-rolling natural disaster of epic proportions’

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says this has been a year of rolling disasters across much of the state.

Noem gave an update during a speech on “Facebook Live” last (Tuesday) night.

She says she wants something done to avoid having the interstates close due to flooding.

I-90 was closed in locations east and west of Mitchell due to water flowing over the road.

Noem says she thinks the state has enough financial reserves to handle immediate needs.

Noem says she expects to declare more disaster areas following tornadoes, storms, heavy rain and record flooding in the past couple of weeks.
