HURON, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is talking about a host of ag issues at the South Dakota State Fair this week. Thursday, she held a round table with the state’s farm and commodity groups. One of their top concerns is the trade war and if it will last past next year’s election.
Livestock development was also a big topic and Noem says she is having frank conversations with many counties that are pushing back.
Industrial hemp is also being studied with growing talk from state legislators eyeing the 2020 legislative session. However, Noem is still calling for caution.
Noem says the State Fair is a great place for consumers to see the issues farmers are facing and how important they are to the state’s economy.
