AMES, I.A.(WNAX)- While some areas of the northern plains will see rain this week, many crops have been damaged by the string of hot, dry days.
Dennis Todey, head of the Midwest Climate Hub in Ames Iowa, says there are big differences in conditions.
Todey says rain now will be of limited help.
Todey says soils across the region are very dry.
The climate outlooks continue to show above normal temperatures and below normal rain through much of September.
