The Northern State University softball team continued non-conference play earlier this afternoon splitting with Minot State University on the road. The Wolves combined for 15 runs and 21 hits in the double header.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern grabbed their first run of the game in the top of the second, off the bat of Kaitlyn King. The junior grounded out to the second basemen, scoring Emma Terveer (pinch running for Kennady Thompson who singled)
- Minot State gained the lead in the bottom of the frame with two runs of their own
- The Wolves added another three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, as well as a combined three in the sixth and seventh sealing the victory
- Scoring for NSU in the fourth was Cassidy Schaar (hit-by-pitch), Kaitlyn King (hit-by-pitch), and Courtney Sjerven (walk)
- Scoring in the top of the fifth was Kennady Thompson (single through the right side), Rachel Reinke (walk), and Madison Rutter (reached on an error)
- Northern combined for 13 team hits, including four doubles, as well as two stolen bases and three sacrifices
- Andrea Cherney recorded her third win of the season, throwing 5.0 innings with five earned runs and four strikeouts

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern got out to a quick lead in game two with five combined runs in the first two innings
- Rachel Reinke plated Sara Bendt on a single up the middle in the bottom of the first, giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead
- NSU tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the second, from Cassidy Schaar (single up the middle), Anne Jonas (walk), Shayla Steinley (bunt single), and Sara Bendt (single up the middle)
- Minot State began to chip-away through the middle innings, notching two runs in the third and another in the fourth
- The Beavers then tied things up in the top of the sixth and held the Wolves at bay forcing extras
- MSU was able to plate the game winning run in the top of the eighth, and hold NSU scoreless in the bottom half of the inning
- Northern recorded five runs on six hits, with two errors in the game
- Jamie Fisher suffered her sixth loss of the season after entering to throw the final 4.1 innings of play. The senior gave up two earned runs on five hits.
