Northern State celebrating Gypsy Days this week

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – While there will be no parade or football game, Northern State is still celebrating Gypsy Days homecoming this week.

The coronavirus pandemic has altered schedules, but there are still plenty of activities planned throughout the week. Janie Borkowski, Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Leadership, provides the details.

Festivities include everything from a movie to coronation to a scavenger hunt, according to Karlie Zacha, Homecoming Committee Chair.

There has been an emphasis on making sure the community of Aberdeen can be involved in the process. Megan Frewaldt, Director of Student Involvement and Leadership, said the athletes and coaches are also a big part of the festivities, despite not having a fall season.

Frewaldt said despite not having games or a parade this fall, the marching band has been out and about helping to lift spirits.
