Northern State Gypsy Day Parade returns Saturday after being canceled by a blizzard, COVID-19

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Aberdeen American News)- After two years off, the Northern State University Gypsy Day Parade returns when it starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The parade begins on North Main Street near Eighth Avenue North and continues south through downtown and to the edge of the Northern State campus on the south side of town.

This is the first parade since 2018. Last year, it was canceled because of COVID-19. The year before, it was canceled because of an early blizzard.

The weather looks to be wonderful for Saturday’s festivities. It should be sunny with a temperature of about 55 when the parade starts and 73 at kickoff of the football game, according to the National Weather Service.

The Wolves play the University of Mary in football at 2 p.m. at Dacotah Bank Field on campus. At 6 p.m., the volleyball team plays Southwest Minnesota State University at the Barnett Center.
