ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – Northern State University will host a wide variety of summer camps and events throughout the next three months.
Below is a list of camps/workshops that will take place at NSU throughout the summer:
NSU Upward Bound: The 2019 NSU Upward Bound Summer Program will run from May 26 to July 3. High school students from surrounding area high schools will stay on campus and be a part of this year’s program.
South Dakota American Legion Boys State: NSU will host the 77th annual Boys State May 27-31 on campus.
Youth Leadership Forum: the 21st annual Youth Leadership Forum will be held June 2-6 on campus.
Confucius Institute Chinese Summer Camp: This annual camp will take place June 3-7 on the NSU campus.
2019 SD 4-H Performing Arts Troupe Camp: The Performing Arts Troupe is a theater arts educational experience for ages 13-18. The camp is set for June 9-15 on campus.
NSU Volleyball Camps: Individual Skills Camp, June 10-11, grades 7-12; Hitter/Setter/Libero Camp, June 12, grades 9-12; Little Wolves Camp, June 26-27, grades 3-6.
NSU Wrestling Camps: Youth Camp, June 10-13; Team Camp, June 17-20.
NSU Football Camp: Individual Football Camp, June 12.
NSU Soccer Camps: Wolves Youth Camps (boys and girls ages 7-13) are set for June 3-6 and June 10-13. Wolves College ID Camp (girls in grades 8-12) is Aug. 2-4.
Art Education Institute: This annual institute, which offers professional development and learning for South Dakota teachers and administrators, runs July 15-18 on the NSU campus.
NSU Jazz Camp: NSU Jazz Camp will be held July 17-20. Students in grades 7-12 will have the opportunity to play in various jazz groups, take lessons, learn about improvisation, enjoy social and recreational activities, and participate in nightly jam sessions.
NSU Voice Camp: NSU Voice Camp will be held July 17-20. Students in grades 7-12 can take voice lessons and classes exploring many vocal styles – classical, opera, jazz and musical theater – in a fun and creative way.
NSU Strings Camp: NSU Strings Camp will be held July 17-20 and will offer the opportunity to work with some of the area’s leading professional musicians. Daily classes will include participation in the Northern Strings Camp Orchestra.
NSU Band Directors Institute: BDI is an intensive program designed to expose music teachers to the best in current and standard literature, teaching methods and materials. The institute will be held July 15-17 and attendants must register to attend.
Rushmore National Music Camp: NSU welcomes Rushmore Junior High Music Camp, open to band students in grades 6-9, July 28 to Aug. 2.
COLLEGEpalooza: This back-to-school celebration for NSU and Presentation College students is Aug. 24 in downtown Aberdeen.
