ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Northern State University will hold a march through campus to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. The march will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Stacie Varnson, NSU Executive Director of Student Success, talked about the march.
There will also be an exhibit of artifacts from that time period. The exhibit, “Women Win the Right to Vote” was put together by the Dacotah Prairie Musuem and will be on display at the Avera Student Center Gallery.
A poster contest is also ongoing to help encourage people to get out and vote. The winner will be announced on Constitution Day, Sept. 17.
The events are open to the public. Masks are required for indoor portions. Varnson said having an event so early in the school year is a bit of challenge, but that is the way that history sometimes works.
