NSAA Changes Postseason Basketball Plans

MADISON, SD (PlayNorthStar.com) – The North Star Athletic Association Board of Athletic Directors (BOAD) has passed a motion to have an 8-team basketball postseason tournament this coming February.

Originally, the NSAA basketball postseason format was set for the top six teams to advance this season.  Due to the recent virus surge, the NSAA BOAD decided to have all eight conference members compete in the postseason tournament.

The top four seeded teams in the final standings will host the opening round in the NSAA postseason tournament.  The NSAA women’s basketball postseason tournament opens on Feb. 22, while the men’s basketball postseason tournament tips off on Feb. 23.

The opening round winners will advance to the Final Four tournament to be held in the Watertown Civic Arena on Feb. 26-27.  The championship games are set for Feb. 27 with the women’s game at 1 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m.

The winner of each postseason tournament will earn the NSAA’s automatic bid to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament Opening Round, which is set for March 11-12.
