INDIANAPOLIS, IN (NorthernSun.org) – The NCAA has announced the eight teams that will compete at the central region women’s basketball tournament and the NSIC will have Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth extend their seasons.
The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 41-team NCAA Central Region again this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 13, 14 & 16. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 24, 26, 28 at UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh.

Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State will extend their seasons with bids to the regional tournament. UMD earned the eighth seed via their automatic bid after winning the NSIC Tournament while St. Cloud State earned the fourth seed via an at-large bid.
The NSIC and the Great American Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 41-team NCAA DII Central Region this year. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 14-15, 17. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
The tournament will take in Topeka, Kansas as Washburn was named the top seed and the host of the tournament.
The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 25 and 27 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania while the National Championship taking place on Sunday, April 5 in Indianapolis.
