Burnsville, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2025 Preseason Cross Country Coaches’ Polls today with Northern State picked ninth (men) and tenth (women). The women tallied 89 points, while the men recorded 76. In addition, Jacob Angerhofer and Emaleigh Olesiak were selected as the teams’ runners to watch for the 2025 fall season.
The 2025 NSIC cross country season gets underway on Friday, September 5 with the regular season culminating on Friday, October 24 at the NSIC Cross Country Championship held at Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Nebraska; hosted by Wayne State. The NCAA Central Regional will be held on Saturday, November 8 in Joplin, Missouri while the NCAA National Championships will take place on November 22 at Wayne E Danehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
LOOKING BACK AT 2024
The 2024 cross country squads put together ninth (men) and 12th (women) place finishes from the NSIC Championships with a new school record set by Nathan Alto for the men.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025
Northern heads into the 2025 season with 12 incoming freshman between the men’s and women’s programs, as well as first year distance coach Mary Garner. The Wolves kick-off their season at the Augustana Twilight on September 5 and will host the annual Steps for Shep race at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 20.

- On the Women’s Team: “We return some key veterans along with some talented freshmen. The 2024 season did not end how we wanted last year, so I know the girls are hungry to compete this season. If we can stay healthy and determined this season, we will have an exciting season ahead!”
- On Olesiak: “Emaleigh had a great freshmen year last season. Her dedication and consistency over the summer will set her up for a great year. She always holds herself to a high standard and we look for her to keep improving. We are excited to see what she can accomplish this season.”
- On the Men’s Team: “We bring back a veteran crew along with some very talented newcomers. The guys have put in a lot of work over the summer and are hungry to compete this fall. We are excited to see what this group can accomplish together.”
- On Angerhofer: “Jacob is entering his final year of cross country for the Wolves. He is one of our top finishers from last season. He has improved every season and will be positioned well to make a big impact this year.”
