Aberdeen, SD (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University head football coach Mike Schmidt announced the addition of Kyle Weisman to his staff as an assistant coach today. Weisman will lead the wide receivers for the Wolves and joins NSU after spending the past two seasons at Southern Arkansas University.
“Most of this offseason has been spent meticulously and diligently putting together the offensive coaching staff,” explained Schmidt. “Having to replace the entire offensive coaching staff is a major undertaking but we knew how critical these moves were for our football program. We made sure we hired the absolute best coaches from around the country. Hiring Kyle Weisman completes the staff.”
“I am so thankful to Coach Schmidt for the opportunity to join the Northern State football program,” noted Weisman. “I’m excited to contribute to the success moving forward with this program, that is already moving in the right direction. Elite facilities, amazing support from the administration, and a hungry desire to win. I’m blessed to be in Aberdeen and can’t wait to get to work with the Wide Receivers. “
Weisman was an assistant coach for SAU, leading the wide receivers in 2023 and 2024. In the fall of 2023, the Muleriders tallied the most wins in program history with ten. In addition, they closed out the 2024 campaign, ranked 23rd in the AFCA Coaches Poll with a 9-2 record. The offense led the Great American Conference and ranked top-25 in passing yards per game, averaging 248.3.
“Coach Weisman adds to the already dynamic coaching staff we have,” added Schmidt. “We value great ball coaches. We value smart people and detailed teachers. Coach Weisman has done a fantastic job at Southern Arkansas, and I am very honored that he wanted to join our program here at NSU. He will hit the ground running and do a great job developing our wide receivers.”
Weisman opened his coaching career as an assistant with North Fort Myers High School from 2016-17. He then spent 2017-19 as an assistant coach at Estero High School.
He earned a bachelor’s of science in entrepreneurship from Florida Gulf Coast University and master’s in coaching/kinesiology from Southern Arkansas University.
