NSU Competes In Brookings With Solid Results

Brookings, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University cross country teams compete against a number of Division I opponents from the SDSU Classic. The men ran their first 8k of the season averaging a time of 27:05.76 and the women averaged a time of 19:47.13 in the 5k.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nathan Alto finished in 21st place for the Wolves with a time of 25:46.45, a personal record by five milliseconds
  • Running second for Northern was Josh Martin with a time of 26:32.27 in the top-35
  • Evan Halbe raced to a personal best of 26:55.44, while Ricky Berndt and Chase Smith finished out the men’s team with marks of 27:56.41 and 28:18.23
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Megan Pickering tallied a new cross country personal record of 18:46.47, taking 23rd
  • Freshman Jolie Dugan beat her time from Augie Twilight by 17 seconds, crossing the finish line at 19:45.19
  • Right behind Dugan was Mary Franssen with a time of 19:46.93; both landing in the top-45
  • Adisen Stadem improved from last week with a mark of 20:07.93, while Avery Murray closed out the Northern State finishes at 20:29.13

Cross Country heads to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invite in two weeks, set for Friday, September 22. The men will run their second 8k of the season at 11:30 a.m., followed by the women with their first 6k at 12:15 p.m. all from the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
