NSU Concert Band, Symphonic Band to perform April 18

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The Northern State University Concert Band and Symphonic Band will present “Band Extravaganza” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18.

The concert will take place in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater. The Concert Band is conducted by Dr. Audrey Miller, and the Symphonic Band is conducted by Dr. Rolf Olson.

The Concert Band program will include “March Diabolique”; “M.U.T.E Fanfare,” “Earthscape” and “Mars, God of War,” performed by the Brass and Percussion Ensemble; and “Three Susato Dances from The Danserye,” “A Fisherman’s Tale” and “The Tides of Fate, performed by the Woodwind Ensemble.

The Symphonic Band program will include “Miniatures for Chamber Wind Ensemble,” “Gavorkna Fanfare,” “Lights Out,” “Movement for Rosa” (honoring civil rights icon, Rosa Parks), and “Trombones Triumphant.”

 Due to COVID-19, admission is free to all 2020-21 NSU School of Fine Arts events. Limited seating is available. Masks are required for all patrons, and attendees are asked to follow appropriate social-distancing protocols.

The concert will also be livestreamed on the NSU Music Department Facebook page.
