ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Northern State University’s debaters Hannah Smith & Liv Ashley won first place in the 2025 Off-Broadway Speech and Debate Tournament at Hofstra University located in New York City.

Smith & Ashley team won first prize in the public forum debate.  Smith placed second and Ashley was third as public speakers.

Their results help lead Northern State to a second place finish in the team competition.

Abiah George was a bronze medalist in international public debate and seventh in impromptu speaking.

Haylee Bohnet also competed for NSU in dramatic and prose speaking.

The debate team will compete next at the Pi Kappa Delta National Tournament in Springfield, M.O. on March 18-22.
