ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The results are in, and the outpouring of love and support that Wolves Nation showed to Northern State University on its first-ever GiveNDay is overwhelming.
As of April 1, GiveNDay reporting showed that 1,253 donors generously gave a total of more than $193,000 during this 24-hour campaign designed to unite the entire Northern community. There were 730 alumni donors, 106 employees of the NSU system, 183 parents of current students and 49 students who supported the philanthropic effort.
The success of this history-making event was elevated by the many donors who funded more than $48,000 in prizes, challenges and matching gifts, which help maximize NSU supporters’ gifts and rally Wolves Nation.
“We are grateful for every alumni and friend who gave in support of this new Northern tradition and point of pride,” said Kelli Fritz, NSU Foundation Director of Development. “Giving Day is an example of the impact that can be made when the entire Wolves community joins together and reminds us of what makes NSU such a special place.”
Gifts came from 34 states—and from countries as far away as Belgium, Canada, South Africa, Oman and the United Kingdom. The campaign saw significant support for the four Giving Day causes—academic divisions and units, athletics, NSU’s greatest need and scholarships —that align with both university-wide priorities and donor affinities.
“We couldn’t be happier with the results from our first-ever GiveNDay. Uniting NSU students, faculty and staff with our loyal alumni and friends made for such an exciting day,” said Lauren Bittner, NSU Foundation Marketing and Development Coordinator. “We are already looking forward to GiveNDay 2022!”
