NSU MBB Team Survives Strong St. Cloud Squad

The No. 2 Northern State University men’s basketball team rallied back versus St. Cloud State on Friday evening, coming away with a 5-point victory. The win marks the second time this season the Wolves have trailed at the half and come out victorious.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Wolves struggled to get things going in the first, giving up 35 points on defense and shooting just 35.7% from the floor on offense
  • Despite trailing by nine at the half, Northern rallied back with 53 points, shooting at a 69.2% clip
  • In total, NSU shot 51.9% from the floor, 28.6% from the 3-point line, and 76.0% from the foul line
  • They recorded a season high 12 steals, forcing 15 total turnovers for 20 points
  • The Wolves added 27 rebounds, 12 assists, and six blocks; scoring 46 points in the paint and 13 fast break points
  • All five starters scored in double figures in the win, with only three team points coming off the bench
  • In addition, four Wolves shot 50.0% or better from field goal range

  • Four Wolves scored in double figures, as the team shot 48.3% from the floor and 42.3% from the 3-point line
  • NSU did struggle at the foul line, going just 14-of-24 in the game
  • Northern held the Huskies shooting 36.0% from the floor and 22.2% from beyond the arc in the second half
  • They forced 12 turnovers which resulted in 17 points, and added 26 points in the paint and 19 second chance points
  • The Wolves won on the glass, out-rebounding SCSU 39-34 in the win with 12 offensive boards
