In 90 minutes of action, the Wolves notched two goals, nine shots, six shots on goal, two assists, three corners, six fouls and four saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In their physical and rainy conference opener, the Wolves knocked down their first goal of the evening midway through the first half
- After a pass to Voss on the west side of the field, the forward dribbled the ball down, inches away from going out of bounds, before she sent a rocket to Hofer, who pelted the ball inside the net to jump to an early 1-0 advantage
- The remaining minutes of the first half were very neutral; both teams tallied two shots apiece in 45 minutes, while Audrey Burns recorded two of her four saves in the half
- It was in the second half when the Wolves would slap another on the scoreboard, this time off the foot of Albert
- Similar to their first goal, Voss took the ball near the line inside the 18-yard box before crossing it to her teammate, who would put the nail in the coffin for NSU’s second goal of the match
- Though playing aggressively, the Huskies, led by Linsey Trapino, who tallied two of SCSU’s shots and shots on goal, weren’t able to put any points on the Wolves’ defense, led by Lauren Carpenter and Burns inside the net

HOW IT HAPPENED
In this physical battle consisting of 23 fouls, both Audrey Burns (seven saves) and Lauren McAlpine (two saves) combined for nine saves, and each goalkeeper earned saves on penalty shots in the tie.
Northern State’s Ella Blake picked up a quick penalty inside the 18-yard box to set Maddix Archer up for a PK.
But Burns was ready, bringing the ball in to keep Northern State in the game early.
The first half finished with just eight total shots and a half-high nine fouls committed by the Mavericks.
Northern State (five) and Minnesota State (nine) offenses picked up in the second half, with both teams outshooting their first-half shots.
Burns would go on to pick up six of her seven saves inside the final 45 minutes, a career high for the sophomore.
With less than 10 minutes to play, McAlpine picked up a penalty after bringing Jaylee Hofer down inside the box to set Lauren Youngquist up for a potential game-leading goal.
With the shot from Youngquist, McAlpine made a diving play for the ball to keep NSU off the board and maintain Minnesota State’s undefeated record this season.
