ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The Northern State University Symphonic Band will present its Winter Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.
In honor of Black History month, the featured piece on the program is a special arrangement of “Shenandoah” by Omar Thomas, one of the country’s pre-eminent composer/arrangers of jazz and band music.
Also featured on the concert is a fanfare of our own Dr. Christopher Stanichar, Director of Orchestra at NSU!
The NSU Brass Choir will present a monumental piece, “Images for Brass” by Stephen Bulla, and the NSU Woodwind Choir will present pieces by Debussy and Respighi.
There will be a special appearance by the NSU Tuba/Euphonium Quartet, under the direction of Dr. Travis Netzer.
Due to COVID-19, admission is free to all 2020-21 NSU School of Fine Arts events. Masks are required, and attendees are asked to follow appropriate social-distancing protocols. The concert will also be livestreamed on the NSU Music Department Facebook page.
