NSU Track & Field Team Takes Down Recent School Record

SIOUX CITY, IA (NSUWolves.com) – A small squad of throwers, distance runners, and sprinters took on the Sioux City Relays Friday for the Northern State University track and field teams. In addition to multiple top-15 finishes, the Wolves saw one school record fall and tallied one event victory on the women’s side.

 

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

·        Jordyn Huneke and Kealy Hill took fourth and sixth in the pole vault, notching marks of 4.07m (13-04.25) and 3.82m (12-06.5); Huneke’s mark bested her school record set a weekend ago

·        Rachel Guthmiller recorded a third place finish in the javelin, tossing 37.12m (121-09.50)

·        Emma Rezac was the top finisher for the women in the 400m taking third with a time of 59.04

·        Destiny Wenger followed in 14th in the 400m, notching a time 1:03.09

·        The 4x400m relay team of Isabel Kinzer, Wenger, Makenna Larson, and Rezac rounded out the top-10 with a time of 4:13.45

·        Megan Mooberry capped off competition for the women, winning the 10,000m after a final two lap push with a time of 37:20.40

·        Megan Pickering and Jenna Helms followed in tenth and 15th with times of 39:43.80 and 41:28.50

 

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

·        Tanner Berg took third in the shot put, throwing 16.84m (55-03.00) as the top Division II placer

·        Nick Olson followed with a sixth place finish in the shot, tossing 14.49m (47-06.50), while Mason Amato rounded out the top-15 with a 11.91m (30-01.00) mark

·        Zachary Burns took ninth in the pole vault, clearing 3.90m (12-09.50)

·        Berg added a third place finish in the hammer with a 64.96m (213-01.50) heave, followed by Olson in 13th, throwing 47.84m (156-11.50)

·        Berg and Olson rounded out the throwing events taking sixth and eighth in the discus, throwing 48.12m (157-10.50) and 46.21m (151-07.25) respectively

·        Kelson Brewer ran to a fourth place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 56.17, with Brady Janssen close behind in fifth, notching a time of 57.61

·        Donovan Miller was close behind in tenth with a time of 59.71 in the 400m hurdles

·        Riccardo Done was the runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase, as the top Division II finisher with a time of 9:28.99

·        Isaiha Fletcher took ninth in the 400m, notching a time of 57.13

·        The 4x400m relay squad of Brewer, Janssen, Ronald Stephenson, and Fletcher ran to a time of 3:27.19 in ninth overall

·        Jackson Harrison was the top Division II finisher in the 10,000m run, taking fifth with a time of 31:07.89

·        Michael Wirth followed in 12th in the 10,000m, crossing the finish line in 33:53.70

 

BEYONG THE RESULTS

·        Jordyn Huneke surpassed her 1-week old school record of 3.91m, vaulting 4.07m as the top Division II finisher. That mark moves Huneke up to fourth nationally in the event, just .03m off the automatic qualifying standard
