ABERDEEN, SD – The (RV) Northern State University wrestling team kicked off the conference season with a comeback victory over MSU Moorhead. The Wolves won five weights, including the final three matches of the dual.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ayden Viox opened the evening for Northern State, recording a second period victory by fall over Isaiah Wright in a 285-pound exhibition match
- The team scoring portion of the dual opened at 165-pounds and MSU Moorhead rattled off a trio of decision victories
- Tyson Lien broke the cycle for the Wolves with a sudden victory, 4-1 win over Isaiah Huus
- Nathan Schauer rallied in the final match before intermission, tying the dual up for NSU with a victory by fall over Liam Babitt at 4:15 in the match
- MSU Moorhead returned from the break with back-to-back victories, taking a 16-9 lead with three weights remaining
- Braydon Mogle chipped away for NSU, defeating Pedro Velaquez in a 9-2 decision
- In his first match of the 2024-25 season, No. 7 Wyatt Turnquist grabbed the lead for the Wolves; the graduate student sat down Cody Wienen at 5:37 in the match with an 18-2 technical fall
- Northern led 17-16 heading into the decisive 157-pound bout that featured Griffin Lundeen and Jacob Reinardy
- Despite falling behind early, Lundeen rebounded with 18 unanswered points and a technical fall win for the Wolves
