YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – Hospitals continue to see high numbers of patients with Covid-19 infections.

Doug Ekeren, President of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, says there is heavy demand for their services.

Ekeren says their infection prediction models are not improving.

Ekeren says COVID-19 patients need much more time and attention.

Ekeren says they are at their limits of staffing now and some beds are not available at times because of that.

Ekeren spoke to the Yankton City Commission before they voted to impose a face mask mandate.
