PIERRE, S.D. (Press Release) – Highway 14 has been reopened. Motorists are reminded there is still a flash flood warning in effect and should be aware of their surroundings and not drive through flood waters.
Earlier on Tuesday officials with the South Dakota Department of Transportation closed Highway 14 between Exit 112 at Wall and Highway 73 at Philip.
According to officials, the Quinn Dam, about a mile north of the highway, breached and was leaking water through the dam. SDDOT and South Dakota Highway Patrol were on scene monitoring the situation. Local residents and a rancher in the area were notified.
