Officials focused on hospitalizations, not positive cases

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – While South Dakota is seeing a spike in positive cases of COVID-19, Governor Kristi Noem says that isn’t the critical number they are watching.

The latest report show 47 percent of all hospital beds are available and 28 percent of ICU beds are open.

Noem says earlier infection models were wrong.

Noem says the focus continue to be protecting the vulnerable.

The state now has over 2,700 active infection cases.
