Officials getting questions on Yankton mask mandate

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The face mask mandate passed this week at a special meeting of the Yankton City Commission is now in effect.

City Manager Amy Leon says they are getting questions.

Leon say they have some masks and signs available.

While the mandate doesn’t carry a penalty, Leon says they can follow through if there are complaints.

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital has donated six thousand disposable face masks to the city for public use as needed.

Those masks are available at the Yankton Police Department, City Hall, and the city library.
