PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – A federal advisory panel has endorsed the use of Pfizers coronavirus vaccine. The Food & Drug Administration is expected to issue a final decision within days, which would start the public roll out of the vaccine.
South Dakota Health Department Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon says they have been working on a vaccination plan for several months.
Malsam-Rysdon says that first round will include more than doctors and nurses.
Malsam-Rysdon says they expect vaccine shipments to pick up in the next few weeks and months.
The health department expects to get about 8,000 doses of vaccine in the first supply next week.
