Officials looking at financial picture amid pandemic

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – While state sales tax revenues in South Dakota have been above budget estimates so far this year, the pandemic will cause future changes.

Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, who will move to the Senate and Chair the Appropriations Committee next year, says health care providers are directly dealing with Covid-19 costs.

Hunhoff says schools are also dealing with major changes and costs.

Hunhoff says there will also be many other spin off impacts.

Hunhoff says legislators may also have more than $50 million in one-time funding to deal with.
