ABERDEEN, S.D. (aberdeennews.com) – State health officials have confirmed one of the new COVID-19 cases reported in Brown County is an employee at DemKota Ranch Beef.

South Dakota gained 100 new cases, bringing the state’s total to 1,411 , according to testing data released by the South Dakota Department of Health on Friday.

Brown County gained two new positive cases with Codington County remaining at 13.

Many of the new positive cases continue to come from Minnehaha County, where 92 new positive cases were reported. The balance of the new cases were in Lincoln County, where six new cases were reported.

When asked by the American News about a positive case at DemKota, South Dakota State Epidemiologist Josh Clayton said there is one case under investigation that involves an employee at DemKota.

“As we do with all the facilities we conduct an assessment of work close contacts as well as community close contacts of all positive cases making special recommendations to that plant to reduce the potential for transmission,” Clayton said.
