YANKTON, S.D. (Press Release) – One man has died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in Yankton.
Names of the deceased and other driver involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.
A 2013 Honda Civic was westbound on South Dakota Highway 50 and attempted to make a left-hand turn south onto Adkins Drive. The vehicle collided with a 2003 Harley Davidson FLHTI, which was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 50.
The 55-year-old male motorcycle driver, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported first to the Yankton hospital and later flown to a Sioux Falls hospital. He died there Sunday.
A 16-year-old female was driving the Honda Civic and was not injured. She was wearing a seatbelt. Charges are pending.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
