One killed in crash south of McLaughlin

McLAUGHLIN, S.D. (Press Release) – One woman died early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash south of McLaughlin.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. She was the only person involved.

A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was southbound on South Dakota Highway 63 when the 35-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
