RIDGEVIEW, S.D. (Press Release) – One person died Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash west of Ridgeview.
Names of the three males involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
A Peterbilt semi-truck pulling an empty grain trailer was westbound on U.S Highway 12 and preparing to turn left when it was struck by a westbound 1994 Ford F350 pickup. The pickup slid into the north ditch and rolled.
The 61-year-old driver of the pickup, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old passenger in the pickup, who was wearing a seatbelt, received minor injuries. He was transported to a clinic in Eagle Butte. The 45-year-old driver of the semi-truck of the truck was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
