STURGIS, S.D. (Press Release) – One man died Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash west of Sturgis.
The name of the person involved is not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2000 Yamaha XVS 1100 motorcycle was eastbound on U.S. Highway 14A when the vehicle went off the roadway and hit the guardrail on the south side of the road. The 60-year-old driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
