ALEXANDRIA, S.D. (Press release) – One person died Friday morning in a tractor-van crash east of Alexandria.
Names of those involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
A Case Versatile 305tractor, which was pulling a hose trailer used for waste handling work, was westbound on Interstate 90. The vehicle was rear-ended by a westbound 2001 Dodge Caravan.
The 52-year-old male driver of the Caravan was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Charges are pending against the 31-year-old tractor driver. He was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. The released information is preliminary only at this time.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
