One killed in vehicle-motorcycle crash south of Keystone

KEYSTONE, S.D. (Press Release) – One person died Wednesday afternoon in a vehicle-motorcycle crash south of Keystone.

Names of those people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

A 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle was westbound on Iron Mountain Road when the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. The motorcycle entered the oncoming lane and collided with an eastbound 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup.

The 58-year-old male motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Both occupants of the pickup, a female driver and a male passenger, were wearing seat belts and were not injured. Both are 41 years old.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
