The call came in just after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday when Watertown Regional Disptach received a 911 call reporting a man who had sustained injuries six miles southeast of Castlewood.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found an unresponsive man who was trapped underneath a haybine mower being pulled by a tractor that had hit a fence.
Additional emergency resources were requested, including the Castlewood Fire Department, Performance Towing, and Watertown Ambulance.
Emergency personnel worked to free the man from underneath the equipment. Once he was removed and cleared from the machinery, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His name has not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
