OSHA investigating a worksite accident near Watertown

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating a deadly worksite accident just outside the Watertown city limits.

It happened Tuesday morning just after 9:30 when Codington County sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel with Watertown Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 600 block of 31st Street Southeast on a report of a worksite accident.

Chief Deputy Brent Solum says a 47 year-old man working there was struck by an excavator bucket.

Life saving measures were attempted at the scene, and the man was taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His name has not been released.
