Over 50 car thefts in Watertown since April 1st

WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- The Watertown Police Department has received numerous reports of thefts from motor vehicles since April 1st. The suspects have taken cash, a handgun, ammunition, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items from unlocked cars. It is believed the suspects have entered over 50 vehicles throughout Watertown.

The Watertown Police Department was asking the public to check their vehicles for any missing property. Information has been provided about a possible firearm stolen from a car that has not been reported.

An adult male and a juvenile male have been identified as suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.

We would also like to remind citizens to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock their doors.
