Overall index rises for 28th straight month

OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – Businesses in the Mid America region continue to show signs of growth despite flooding and other growing risks.

Ernie Goss, Director of the Institute for Economic Inquiry at Creighton University in Omaha, says the overall index for the nine state region rose again in March.

Any reading over 50 indicates growth in the next few months.

Goss, who conducts the regional survey, says job growth trails the national average.

Goss says while flooding is a business risk in part of the region, there are larger threats out there.

Goss says most business managers are not worried about inflation being an issue in the next few months.
