NEW HOLLAND, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has proposed merging the Department of Environment and Natural Resources into the state Ag Department and would call it the Department of Ag & Natural Resources.

The incoming Chairman of the House Ag & Natural Resources Committee, Representative Marty Overweg of New Holland, says he wants more details.

Overweg says the two departments deal with different issues.

Overweg says he is working on some legislative issues and possible bills.

“Amendment A” which was approved by voters last month has been challenged in court. Another ballot issue approving medical marijuana may see some legislative challenges.
