YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- School officials are warning of possible changes coming to the free lunch program.

Because of the pandemic, the federal government has been covering the cost of school meals for the past two years.

Yankton School District Business Manager Jason Bietz says that may end.

Bietz says it would add costs for many families.

Bietz says there could be bigger costs than dollars.

School officials from across the country are pushing Congress to reinstate the program before the start of classes in the fall.
