Pierre Airport to work on runway reconstruction project

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The City of Pierre is preparing for another major runway reconstruction project at Pierre Regional Airport.  City Commissioners Tuesday night approved an engineering contract with the H-W Lochner firm for the Runway 13-31 project.  Airport Manager Brian Cowles says the project will be similar to the Runway seven-two-five project finished last year.

Cowles says the project will have the runway out of service most of the year in 2025 and knows a very important deadline awaits next year.

Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says it’s critically important the project is done in time for the fall pheasant rush.

The cost of the engineering services agreement with H-W Lochner is 570-thousand 600-dollars.  H-W Lochner is based in Lenexa, Kansas.
