PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Pierre City Commission has finalized revisions to city ordinances governing the usage and placement of shipping containers in the city. Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says addressing shipping container use in Pierre has been on the radar of city officials for some time.
Commissioner Todd Johnson says the change will give city officials and enforcement mechanism.
Mayor Steve Harding says Pierre is not alone in looking to get a hand on the use of shipping containers for storage.
The ordinance changes will become effective two weeks after publication in the city’s official newspaper. The revisions were approved by unanimous vote.
