PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The Pierre City Commission has given approval to a request to update the dispatch equipment at the Central South Dakota Communications Center. Pierre Police Chief Jason Jones says the project has been in the works for a while.
Jones says they CARES Act funding the city is receiving is helping to fund the upgrades.
Dispatch Center Director Cindy Gross says right now, communications officers are at work stations that are not six feet apart per C-D-C guidelines for social distancing and the remodel would solve that.
The cost of the project is $140,654 which includes $5,500 for shipping and $17,250 for installation of the equipment.
