PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The Pierre Fire Department was called out around 7 o’clock Friday morning because a dog had fallen through the ice near the Izaak Walton League.

Chief Ian Paul says the dog got into the water and couldn’t make it back to shore.

Paul says the owner reacted exactly how they should have.

In another situation involving a dog.

Thursday night, Pierre firefighters rescued a woman who had been stuck in an elevator for a few hours.

Paul says that call was to a building on Parkwood Drive.

Paul says the woman had a dog with her when she got into the elevator.
