PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – The Pierre Fire Department Rescue Unit responded to a partial roof collapse Thursday morning. Pierre Fire Chief Ian Paul says units were dispatched just before 7 a.m.

Paul says the wet weather that has plagued other parts of the state recently played a part in the collapse.

Paul says a structure or roof collapse is rare in Pierre, but firefighters are ready.

Assisting on scene were AMR Ambulance and the Pierre Police Department.
