Pierre police finding connection between a rollover crash to the rash of burglaries

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Pierre police have made a connection between some recent burglaries in Pierre and a rollover crash near the Grey Goose area of Hughes County two weeks ago.  Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers assisting at the rollover found items reported as stolen at the crash site.

33-year-old Wesley Boni was originally reported as being from New York.  Walz says Boni recently moved to Pierre from New York.  Walz says the pick-up crashed by Boni was taken from near the burglary scene.  Walz says investigators have been able to link Boni to other local burglaries.

Walz says a recent effort by investigator to publicize the thefts, which were reported across all areas of Pierre, has made a difference.

Boni is being held in the Hughes County Jail on charges including Burglary, Grand Theft and Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle.  Pierre police are being assisted in the investigation by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Division of Criminal Investigation along with the U-S Marshal’s Office.
